A Running Program for Nat

Good gracious! Nat is coming 7 years old and that is 84 months!

So what is the progress of this well child?
What have mummy and daddy done for him?

Mobility: Nat can walk, yes, and I should train him up more physically, this I thought as I was working on Jeremiah's program

so here's what mummy's drawn up for Nathaniel's physical program :)

First goal: to find out how many yards Nat can run non-stop and start with that distance. e.g. run 100 yards (90m) non-stop

How often? 4 days a week as a minimum. Everyday even better.

Schedule:
1. Walk 1 mile (1,612m) a day. Approximate 4 rounds of the stadium? and within that mile, run 100 yards (90m) four times (4x90m of running)

2. Gradually increase to 150 yards (135m) of running four times in that 1-mile (1,612m) walk (4x135m of running)

3. Gradually increase to 200 yards (180m) of running four times in that 1-mile (1,612m) walk (4x180m of running)

4. Blend running sessions until he runs 400 yards (360m) non-stop twice during his 1-mile walk (2x360m of running)

5. Combine his two sessions until he runs 800 yards (720m) non-stop within the 1-mile

6. Run 800 yards (720m) and gradually increase this distance by 20m a day, walking the rest of the mile(1,612m). (run 740m and walk 872m and so on)

7. Gradually increase the running distance while decreasing the walking distance until child runs 1-mile nonstop.

YIPPEE! Nat would be able to run 1-mile (1,612m) non-stop.

Add at least 10m a day.... that would be 300m a month (3 miles in 10-12 months)or 20m a day that would be 600m a month. 3 miles in approximate 5-6 months

Ultimate goal: run 3 miles (4,836m) in 36 minutes.

Hhhhhmmmmm, mummy gotta start training herself first :P

This should have been the achievement of a 6 year old. Sorry Nat, Mummy's gonna give you a good deal more opportunity that you have had. At whatever age, you have entered into the highest level of human function. From here on, the sky's the limit!
